Chair casters, alternatively called chair wheels, are the wheels that are attached to the bottom of a chair. It allows the chair to move smoothly across the floor.
The material of your chair legs plays a big role in determining whether casters can be added. Wooden legs can generally support casters, but they may need reinforcement to handle the movement. Metal legs are often ideal for casters as they are strong, while plastic legs might be too weak to hold the caster securely.
If your wheels are stubborn, use a flathead screwdriver or pliers to gently pry or twist them loose. Start by placing the screwdriver between the wheel and the chair base, then carefully apply pressure. Pliers can give extra grip if the wheel is tough to remove. Using these tools will help you gain leverage, reducing the chance of damaging the chair base.
